2024 Highlights

POLICY
- 2024– AB 2074 (Muratsuchi) was signed and tasks the California Department of Education (CDE) with creating an implementation plan for the California English Learner Roadmap Policy and requires designated staff at CDE to serve as a point of reference to ensure the implementation plan created rolls out and gets to all the school districts.
- AB 2222 (Rubio), A bill that would have required California teachers to use the “science of reading,” which spotlights phonics, to teach children to read was defeated.
